It’s no secret that everything sequined and shiny is back in a big way. I had to watch the Oscars coverage with sunglasses on, so blinding was the amount of beading. Ok, slight exaggeration, but if the red carpet is anything to go by, your new season wardrobe needs some sparkle. And not just for eveningwear – sequins look amazing for everyday!
The easiest way to inject some sparkle into your daytime look is to pare back your sequined number with a contrasting texture – perhaps denim with a sequined top, or an oversized chunky knit with a sparkly skirt. Or, channel Jess Hart’s much lauded off-duty look at New York Fashion Week by mixing sequined leggings with a rockstar tee and sneakers.

A shimmering jacket is a playful way to work the trend through autumn – whether it be a sharp blazer or draped coverup, try it over a luxe tee and cropped pants for a dressier daytime look that works well into cocktail hour.
Not convinced that you can pull it off? Sequined accessories are a subtle (well, as subtle as sequins get) way to try the look – a sparkling clutch or glittering heels nod to the trend, without it being overwhelming.
